Industrial Estate Plagued By Graffiti Outbreak

Police are checking CCTV footage in the hope of determining the identities of individuals who were responsible for the scrawled surreal graffiti around the Moorlands Road Industrial Estate over the weekend. Occupants were today warned to look out for suspicious activity following the events which involved symbols being daubed on walls with spray paint, carved into wooden doors and also burnt into the tarmac with what a police spokesman described as a ‘high-powered industrial blowtorch.’
The area was closed today as council workers removed the paint and resurfaced part of the road leading into the estate.
Local councillors expressed their shock and the council community liaison officer, Sharon Freeman, slammed those responsible. “How can we encourage business to the area when the youths of the local estates seem compelled to vandalise everything in sight. Those responsible will be caught and punished to the full extent of the law.”
While no direct links have been made, early analysis of the symbols has pointed towards members of the pagan community though they have strenuously denied any involvement.
The local police spokesman said officers were looking at CCTV footage and forensic teams have recovered a canister of spray paint. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 08081 570000.
