In Memoriam
Gordon Stewart McKay
1952 – 2008

Gordon McKay was a dedicated, honest, hard-working man who, as well as having many friends, made a substantial contribution to several companies within the contract cleaning and catering sectors during his career both north and south of the Border.

Gordon was born in Bridge of Alla in, Stirlingshire in 1952, to parents Ruth and George, both schoolteachers. He studied accountancy at the University of St Andrews and afterwards his three brothers - Colin, Gavin and Malcolm - followed him there, though reading different subjects.

He joined Holt Facilities Management as an operations accountant in 1986 and became a member of the board as their financial controller in July 1998. Gordon used his years of experience to develop the finance team and contributed to a doubling of the turnover. His approachability, fairness and dry sense of humour won respect and admiration from all the staff.

Gordon will be remembered by his colleagues as a straight-talking Scot with a wicked sense of humour and a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Following a service of thanksgiving, Gordon will be laid to rest in Leeds this coming Monday.

Family flowers only, by request. The family have asked for any donations to be made to the British Heart Foundation.
